Leather Care

Now that you own your leather product, you want to care for it in the best way possible.  Our leather products come pretreated from the factory and do not need any initial care.  After about 6 months, you may want to clean and or condition your bag.

Leather is the same as your skin, except it can no longer generate its own oils to re-hydrate itself. Most of us have seen damaged leather so we know what we want to avoid. The only way to avoid that fate is to clean and condition leather regularly and keep your leather protected; out of direct sunlight and wet conditions.

We recommend using Lexol products.  They have been a trusted name in leather care for over 30 years. In that time, they’ve mastered leather care in all its forms. Just like skin; not all leathers are alike. Lexol’s line of products is wide-ranging and encompasses every aspect of leather care. Lexol products can be found in most supermarkets, big box stores or online.

Before applying anything to your leather item, be certain to do a colorfast test on a less visible small area. (i.e.; bottom of bag)  Once you’ve determined that the leather care product is acceptable to use on your item, follow the cleaner directions closely.  For areas with stitches, there are brushes available on the market. . DO NOT use leather cleaner on Distressed Leather, simply clean with a damp sponge.

Leather conditioners contain fats and/or oils that help lubricate leather and replenish the suppleness. While petroleum by-products won’t damage your leather immediately, they do over a period of time.

To condition your leather products. Use a non-dyed cloth and gently rub in the leather conditioner. Use small circles to rub the conditioner in well. This will keep your leather soft and supple. Condition your bag only after using the cleaning solution first.  Cleaning and conditioning should be done once a month. Conditioning the leather will help prevent cracking and breaks.

Following these simple care steps will keep your fine leather products looking great for years.
